selling online.
I am very familiar with the craft selling business myself. I have in the past made jewelry to sell.
I would cut and polish stones, put them in settings for sale. At present I do wood carving and scroll saw
work for sale. I have also taught classes in wood carving and scroll saw work.
In our town they just had a Christmas craft show. Since I moved here recently, I wanted to check the
show for next year. I found lots of different crafts on display but there was not one wood carver. I have to
gather more information on booth cost and size. But I will have most of the year to get my stuff together for
that show. I also found out that the same people sponsor as many as 6 show for my town and the surrounding
cities.
Hand made are the key words that make our products more valuable. You can go to a big box store and
buy items that may look very similar to the crafts we produce but they are stamped out or machine made. At
the big box store Christmas decorations are very cheap. I make wood Christmas decorations for the tree. My
priced start at $4 and go up to $12. Because people see that they are made by me, they have no problem buying
my craft offerings.
The craft business is normally an inexpensive business to get into. If you are already making
things, you have the tools. Advertise on grocery store or other business bulletin boards. That doesn't cost
anything. Check out shops to sell to and find craft shows you can sell at.
